Wilmington, DE – On September 5 and 6, 2018, the Help Our Kids Radiothon was held at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. For 24 hours (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day), six Delmarva Broadcasting Company radio stations broadcasted live from the hospital’s Anthony N Fusco, Sr. Atrium sharing with their listeners stories of hope, courage, and compassion from our patients, patient families, and clinicians. As the clock hit 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, the total amount raised was announced: $320,192. This makes the 8 year total more than $1.9 million.
Donations came steadily throughout the two-day event via a phone bank and online giving. There were also those who donated in person, inspired by what they heard on their favorite radio station.
Key Facts
Quote
“Radiothon is truly a team effort. It includes Nemours Associates, the families so willing to come and share their unique and compelling stories, the six Delmarva Broadcasting Company radio stations, and—most importantly—the community members who rally around the event each year to support our patients and families at Nemours/duPont Hospital for Children. I am overwhelmed by the kindness and compassion we witnessed during Radiothon. One hundred percent of all money donated will go to Child Life, Palliative Medicine, and Pastoral Care, which supports the patients in our care, and their siblings, at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.”
