Orlando, Fla. (April 24, 2023) – On April 17, Nemours Children’s Health hosted Day of Giving, an annual fundraising event, in partnership with WKMG-TV, the CBS affiliate in the Orlando market. The event, presented by VyStar Credit Union, raised more than $106,000 to help critically ill and injured children and their families.
The phones rang throughout the day as TV viewers called in to support children and families battling life-threatening illnesses. Employees from presenting sponsor VyStar Credit Union, along with sponsors Cars and Coffee Central Florida and Ruckus, dutifully crewed the lines and accepted donations of all sizes from the community, which were matched by sponsors.

Whether through partnerships with VyStar Credit Union, Ruckus, Cars and Coffee Central Florida or a local supporter calling to donate, this concerted community effort advances efforts in changing children’s health for good.”
Throughout the day, patient families were invited to tell their stories. This included the Millers, who spoke about how their daughter Ava, now 2, was born deaf, received a cochlear implant and continues to make progress in speech therapy at Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida.

The generosity of the local community along with the matching donations from our partners raised money that will make a difference in so many patient families in Central Florida.
Mirroring the telethon fundraising event that Nemours has held for five years in Jacksonville, partnership with WKMG Orlando began last year.
