Nemours Children’s Health Meets with Legislators on Capitol Hill, Biden Administration Health Leaders to Advocate for Children’s Mental Health Needs

Washington, D.C. (July 13, 2022) At Nemours Children’s Health, we believe that going well beyond medicine and engaging with others is the best formula for addressing health disparities for our nation’s children. Nemours Children’s Health CEO and President Dr. R. Lawrence Moss, colleagues, Dr. Kara Odom Walker, EVP, Chief Population Health Officer; Dr. Rachel Thornton, VP, Chief Health Equity Officer; and Daniella Gratale, Director of Child Health Policy and Advocacy visited Capitol Hill this week to advocate for children's health resources.

The Nemours leaders joined Children's Hospital Association colleagues from across the nation for a fly-in to meet with congressional policymakers and highlight the urgent need to act on mental health before the August recess. They encouraged legislators to support the bipartisan Health Care Capacity for Pediatric Mental Health Act, which supports pediatric behavioral health care integration and coordination, workforce training, and investments in infrastructure.

Nemours thanks the White House Domestic Policy Council, the Vice President's Office of Public Engagement, and the Department of Health and Human Services for the opportunity to share Nemours work on behalf of our nation's children.

They thank to Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, and Representatives Demings, Rutherford, and the office of Rep. Darren Soto for the opportunity to discuss several bills essential to improving children's health outcomes.

As one of the nation's largest multi-state children's health systems, Nemours is grateful for the support of these critical initiatives and their impact on creating the healthiest generations of children.
