On behalf of Nemours Children’s Health, I commend the Florida Chamber for their leadership and commitment to prioritizing children’s health in Florida,” said Robert Bridges, Enterprise Executive Vice President and Chief Executive of Florida Operations, Nemours Children’s Health System, and Florida Chamber Foundation Board Trustee.

Orlando, Fla. (March 17, 2021) Nemours Children’s Health System commends The Florida Chamber Foundation on Creating a “Scorecard” for Florida Children’s Health.

Nemours Children’s Health System is committed to creating the healthiest generation of children. Recently, Nemours Children’s Health System had the privilege of partnering with The Florida Chamber Foundation on a “scorecard” to measure the state’s progress on the Florida 2030 Blueprint. Through the partnership, new metrics were added to TheFloridaScorecard.org on Florida’s Child Health Ranking.

The state ranking is based on health indicators that include the percentage of babies born with a low birth weight, children lacking health insurance, child and teen deaths per 100,000, and children and teens who are overweight or obese.

“The announcement of the Child Health Ranking tile exemplifies a real opportunity for Florida to demonstrate its unwavering pledge to our pediatric population. We look forward to working alongside the Chamber to see Florida annually ranked among the top 10 states for children’s health and well-being.

“Florida school districts remain among the largest in the nation, and children represent the future workforce. The health, education and well-being of Florida’s children are all interrelated, and crucial not only to their future success, but also to Florida’s future economy. We are committed to ensuring we are delivering integrated and innovative pediatric care to those who will become the next generation of Florida leaders,” Bridges added.

The Florida Chamber Foundation’s Prosperity Initiative and the Business Alliance for Early Learning are focused on Florida 2030 Blueprint goals that state, by 2030:

  • 100 percent of children are ready for kindergarten

  • 100 percent of Florida 3rd graders are reading at or above grade level

  • Less than 10 percent of Florida children live in poverty and 100 percent have a pathway out of poverty
