Lauren Averill, MD, has been appointed Chair, Department of Medical Imaging at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children (N/AIDHC). Dr. Averill joined Nemours in 2007 as a faculty radiologist. She subsequently served as Vice Chair of the department from 2013 to 2019, then as Interim Chair.
A medical graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Dr. Averill completed her residency in radiology at Thomas Jefferson University and her fellowship in pediatric radiology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is certified by the American Board of Radiology with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Pediatric Radiology.
Dr. Averill is a nationally recognized pediatric radiologist with special interest and expertise in pediatric musculoskeletal and body imaging. She currently serves as Associate Professor of Radiology and Pediatrics at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. She has received numerous awards for clinical and academic excellence, including her selection as the 2019 Physician of the Year at N/AIDHC.
