Wilmington, DE — CARF International has announced its accreditation of Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children for a period of three years for its therapeutic and rehabilitation services. This latest recognition is the tenth consecutive three-year accreditation earned by duPont Hospital for Children and includes both the inpatient and CORP (Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Program) programs, making it the only pediatric facility in the Delaware Valley to be so recognized.
CARF accreditation represents the highest level of achievement that can be awarded to an organization for its rehabilitation services, and shows Nemours’ adherence to the demanding CARF standards. Nemours undergoes a rigorous peer review process and has consistently demonstrated to a team of surveyors during on-site visits that its programs and services are of the highest quality.
Among the program’s strengths as described by reviewers: “The resources at the … hospital are amazing and provide best care for [children] and families served. The interdisciplinary team is cohesive and [patient]-focused through observation of interaction and feedback from families. The school re-entry process is successful due to the dedication of the team.” Among the programs’ special features cited are the large therapeutic swimming pool, on-site rehabilitation engineers, wheelchair clinic and augmentative communication clinic.
