Dr. Jay Greenspan Appointed Chief Executive, Delaware Valley Operations

Wilmington, Del. --  Jay Greenspan, MD, MBA, has been appointed Chief Executive of Delaware Valley Operations effective August 5, 2019.  Dr. Greenspan holds this position as Nemours conducts a national search for a successor to Roy Proujansky, MD, who has retired. 

Dr. Greenspan, a neonatologist, has a deep knowledge of Nemours and broad experience in Delaware and the Delaware Valley markets. He has been a member of the Nemours team since 2000, most recently serving as Chairman and Professor of Pediatrics at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.

During Dr. Greenspan’s tenure, Nemours’ footprint in the area has grown tremendously, expanding to more than 40 locations in the Delaware Valley.  He has been a champion for expanding behavioral health at Nemours, with the addition of a  new behavioral health center and more than 50 providers over the last three years to serve children and teens with autism, mental illness, emotional and developmental disorders. A dedicated teacher and mentor, Dr. Greenspan led the development of PedsUniversity.org, an online continuing education resource for pediatricians and other providers. He also directs the Hot Topics in Neonatology conference, held annually in Washington, DC, which attracts more than 1500 participants from around the world.

A primary focus for Dr. Greenspan has been improving health outcomes, especially for babies born prematurely. He has worked with the March of Dimes for more than 25 years to help level the playing field for all mothers and babies, no matter their age, beliefs, or socio-economic background.
