U.S. News & World Report has ranked Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in seven pediatric specialties in the new 2018-19 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings published online today. Orthopedics ranked 6th in the nation. The hospital’s ranked specialties include:
- Cancer (#16)
- Endocrinology and diabetes (#30)
- Gastroenterology and GI surgery (#33)
- Nephrology (#31)
- Neurology and neurosurgery (#43)
- Orthopedics (#6)
- Urology (#27)
Four of Nemours ranked specialties improved their ranking from 2017-18, including: cancer (#25 to #16); nephrology (#38 to #31); orthopedics (#7 to #6), and urology (#42 to #27). Neurology and neurosurgery — unranked in 2017-18 — achieved ranking this year.
The 12th annual Best Children’s Hospitals rankings highlight U.S. News’s top 50 U.S. pediatric facilities in 10 surveyed specialties. Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children has been ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals in each year it has participated in the survey.
The rankings rely on clinical data and on an annual survey of pediatric specialists. The rankings methodology considers clinical outcomes, such as mortality and infection rates, efficiency and coordination of care delivery and compliance with "best practices.”
