Specialty Services Now Open in Nemours Building on Sussex Campus

April 22, 2021 – Bayhealth and Nemours Children’s Health System recently marked the opening of the new Nemours Building at 101 Wellness Way, on the Bayhealth Sussex Campus, with a ribbon cutting ceremony**. The event celebrated the opening of expanded specialty pediatric care to families in Sussex County. The new three-story, medical office building is located across the street from the hospital and outpatient center.

“As a nurse and a mom I know how important it is to have the best level of care accessible to our children when they need it. The collaboration between Nemours and Bayhealth will provide access to world class healthcare for our families,” said Delaware Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long, who attended and spoke at the ceremony. “Many more Delawareans will now be better served by getting specialized pediatric care for the whole child closer to home.”

Nemours occupies 35,000 square feet on the first floor of the brand new medical office building. Bayhealth-employed and private practice physicians have offices on the second and third floor.

“Our collaboration with Nemours Children’s Health System gives our southern Delaware community more convenient access to pediatric primary care and specialty physicians,” said Bayhealth President and CEO Terry Murphy, FACHE. “Additionally, this medical office building offers Bayhealth the opportunity to expand our services, such as Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Cardiology, to meet the growing demand for comprehensive healthcare in southern Delaware.”

“Nemours serves over 30,000 patients in southern Delaware and, until recently, many families had to travel well over an hour north to receive the necessary specialty care for their children,” said Mark Mumford, Nemours Chief Executive Officer of Delaware Valley Operations. “Understanding that every child should have easy access to the care they need, no matter where they live, we are proud to be bringing our world-class specialty care closer to home for these families.”

Nemours duPont Pediatrics, Sussex Campus, which saw its first primary care patients in November of 2020, is providing health care services staffed by the pediatric experts from Nemours Children’s Health System. Nemours specialty care recently began seeing patients on April 1. Nemours specialty services at this new location include: audiology, behavioral health, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology, immunology, orthopedics, otolaryngology (ENT), urology and weight management. Therapy and imaging services are also available.

Co-locating with Nemours duPont Pediatrics is Nemours SeniorCare, Sussex Campus, which will provide dental and vision services, as well as hearing screening, for eligible Delaware residents.

Bayhealth team members welcomed the first patients in December. The following Bayhealth offices are located on the 2nd floor of the Nemours Building: Bayhealth Bariatric Program, Sussex Campus; Bayhealth Endocrinology, Sussex Campus; Bayhealth Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Sussex Campus; Bayhealth Primary Care, Sussex Campus.

Patients will find Bayhealth ENT, Sussex Campus; Bayhealth Cardiology Consultants, Sussex Campus; Bayhealth Urology, Sussex Campus; Bayhealth Women’s Care, Sussex Campus on the 3rd floor of the Nemours Building.
