WILMINGTON, Del., Mar 9, 2022 – Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware is pleased to welcome Ali Mirza Onder, MD, who joins the Department of Pediatrics as Chief, Division of Nephrology. Dr. Onder has specific expertise and interest in catheter-related bacteremia in long-term hemodialysis catheters and acute kidney injury following cardiac surgery. He is a native of Istanbul, Turkey, and earned his medical degree at Uludag University, Faculty of Medicine, Bursa, Turkey.
Before joining Nemours, Dr. Onder worked in pediatric nephrology at Children’s of Mississippi and was an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Mississippi, Department of Pediatrics. He is an author, editor and reviewer for a number of medical journals, with a specific focus on infectious complications of hemodialysis vascular access, outcomes of permanent vascular access and cardiac surgery associated-acute kidney injury.

Dr. Onder completed his initial pediatric residency at Marmara University Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey; followed by his pediatric internship and residency at Miami Children’s Hospital, Miami, Florida; and his pediatric nephrology fellowship at University of Miami / Holtz Children’s Hospital, Department of Pediatric Nephrology, Miami, Florida. He is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric nephrology.
Dr. Onder is a member of professional societies including American Society of Nephrology, American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, and International Pediatric Nephrology Association.
