Orange County Public Schools Honor Nemours Programs for ‘Well Beyond Medicine’ Work in Local School System

Orlando, Fla. (May 23, 2023) Several representatives of Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida programs were honored by the school board of Orange County Public Schools at a recognition ceremony held last week at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center.

Orange County Public Schools is the eighth-largest school district in the nation and the fourth-largest in Florida. In 2022-23 OCPS enrolled nearly 207,000 students. 

The interdisciplinary team was recognized for supporting and providing District 2 students, parents and staff with important mental health resources, outreach and educational programs in Orange County and the Lake Nona area, location of Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida.

Also at the event, Vice Chair of Cardiovascular Services and new Director of Ambulatory Care Services in Central Florida, Dr. Gul Dadlani, was recognized for his work on the Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) EKG Screening Task Force. He recognized the OCPS Board for supporting EKG screenings for high school athletes. Last year, the program trained 300,000 OCPS high school students in hands-on CPR.

All of these efforts were led by local Nemours Children’s Community Program Manager Kelly Rogers in partnership with Behavioral Health expert and specialist Dr. Lisa Spector, and supported by Government Relations Program Manager Martha Santoni.
