WHAT: Nemours Children’s Health experts will gather to convene a discussion on how partnerships can help break down barriers of health disparities and lead the path to raising the healthiest generation of children. As part of its new strategic vision and planning, Nemours is working to re-imagine children’s health by leading discussions among community institutions from education to politics to insurance payors in order to elevate children’s health nationally.

WHO/WHY: R. Lawrence Moss, M.D., President and CEO of Nemours Children’s Health; Robert Bridges, Enterprise Vice President and Chief Executive of Florida Operations for Nemours Children’s and Board Member of the Florida Chamber of Commerce; Kara Odom Walker, MD, MSHS, Executive Vice President and Chief Population Health Officer for Nemours Children’s will discuss how partnerships can help break down barriers to good health for children as the future of Florida.

The Florida Chamber Foundation recently added “Florida’s Child Health Ranking,” a metric on The Florida Scorecard, https://thefloridascorecard.org/ to measure progress on children on the Florida 2030 Blueprint. The state ranking is based on health indicators that include the percentage of babies born with a low birth weight, children lacking health insurance, child and teen deaths per 100,000, and children and teens who are overweight or obese.

Speaking on benchmarking Florida’s child health and well-being will be Norín Dollard, Florida Kids Count Director, Florida Policy Institute.

Additionally, a panel will speak on the importance of collaboration to invest on the health of children:

  • David Odahowski, President of the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation

  • Shevaun Harris, Secretary of the Florida Department of Children & Families

  • Nathan Landsbaum, Plan President & CEO, Sunshine Health

  • Rene “Coach P” Plasencia, State Representative (R-Orlando-50)
