WILMINGTON, Del. (December 9, 2025) – Nemours Children’s Health today opened the Lisa Dean Moseley Foundation Institute for Cancer and Blood Disorders (Moseley Foundation Institute) Outpatient Services and Day Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility that will provide world-class care to pediatric patients in the Delaware Valley and beyond. The Moseley Foundation Institute at Nemours Children’s was established in March 2023 with a $78 million gift from the Lisa Dean Moseley Foundation.

Tuesday’s ceremony marked the completion of the second phase of the Moseley Foundation Institute, the outpatient unit at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware. Spanning more than 20,000 square feet—more than five times its previous size—the unit features a family-centered design that allows for an innovative delivery model, where care is brought to patients, removing their need to travel throughout the hospital for treatment. The new space complements phase one, which was a 24-bed inpatient unit that opened in March.

“The Moseley Foundation Institute Outpatient Services and Day Hospital represents a significant step forward in our commitment to providing world-class, compassionate care for children and families facing some of the most challenging diagnoses,” said Laura Kowal, MPT, JD, Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware Valley Interim President and Executive Vice President, General Counsel. “The space was designed with healing, comfort, and hope in mind, and it reflects our dedication to advancing treatment while supporting the emotional well-being of every child we serve.”

In addition to the inpatient facility and Outpatient Services and Day Hospital, the Moseley Foundation Institute encompasses several initiatives aimed at improving clinical care and research, including:

• A Presidential Endowed Chair to support the inaugural Moseley Institute Director’s work in pediatric patient care, research and other high-priority areas.
• An Endowed Chair for Sickle Cell Disease Research who will further Nemours work in support of the Delaware Comprehensive Sickle Cell Research Program by conducting and overseeing sickle cell disease research. The work began in 2016 and was renewed in 2021 with a five-year, $10.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) to support clinical, translational and psychosocial research in sickle cell disease.
• An Endowed Laureate Program funded by a $25 million endowment from the Lisa Dean Moseley Foundation that will create an annual research goal for a Request for Proposals (RFP) focused on cancer and blood disorders research. The Moseley Foundation Institute will convene a Scientific Review Board to review proposals to engage and fund leading global research teams from a variety of disciplines both inside and outside of traditional laboratory research.
• An International Symposium to be held every other year to highlight the Moseley Foundation Institute’s researchers’ accomplishments and facilitate the exchange of information and collaboration amongst top international researchers and scholars to ultimately improve care.
