Acclaimed Clinician Mark Twite, MD, Named Chief of Cardiac Anesthesia for Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware Valley
Dr. Twite will also serve as Co-Director of the Nemours Children’s Cardiac Center in the Delaware Valley.

WILMINGTON, Delaware (June 12, 2025) – Nemours Children’s Health has named Mark Twite, MD, Chief of Cardiac Anesthesia and Co-Director of the Nemours Children’s Cardiac Center in the Delaware Valley.

In this new role, Dr. Twite will lead the delivery of cardiac anesthesia services with oversight of the region’s cardiac anesthesia program. He will also play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the strategic direction of the Cardiac Center in the Delaware Valley.

Prior to joining Nemours Children’s, Dr. Twite served as Professor of Anesthesiology and Director of Congenital Cardiac Anesthesiology at Children’s Hospital Colorado. He has authored more than 80 research publications and more than a dozen book chapters.

Dr. Twite’s extensive medical training includes fellowships in pediatric critical care and pediatric cardiac anesthesia. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Colorado and earned his medical degree from the University of Cambridge. In addition, he earned a master’s degree and two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Cambridge.

Dr. Twite is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and holds a subspecialty certification in pediatric anesthesiology. He has received multiple accolades for his contributions to the medical field, including the Young Investigator Award from the Pediatric Anesthesia Society and the Teacher of the Year Award from Children’s Hospital Colorado. In addition, Dr. Twite has previously served as president of the Congenital Cardiac Anesthesia Society.
