Nemours Doctors Provide Expertise on the Dangers of Vaping at Orange County Community Forum

Orlando, Florida (January 30, 2020) -- Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings kicked off a panel discussion on the dangers of vaping for adolescents and parents Monday night. The 90-minute discussion featured Nemours Dr. Floyd Livingston, Division Chief of Pediatric Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine; Dr. Gift Kopsombut, faculty member with the Division of Hospital Medicine; and Dr. Lonna Gordon, Associate Chief for Adolescent Medicine, who shared the latest information about how e-cigarrettes are marketed to teens, what their chemical composition is, and the damage that vaping does to the body.

At the event, which was co sponsored by Orange County Government’s Drug Free Coalition, the doctors shared strategies for parents to approach teens and how to prevent them from starting to use these dangerous products.
