Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children has been recognized again by U.S. News & World Report (USNWR) for being among the Best Children’s Hospitals in the nation in the 2016-17 edition of Best Children’s Hospitals. In the latest rankings, released today, duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE, was ranked in six of the ten surveyed specialties. Orthopedics ranked in the top five for the third straight year.

Two of Nemours ranked specialties improved their ranking from 2014-15: gastroenterology (#35 to #22) and nephrology (#39 to #32).

Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children has been ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals in each year it has participated in the survey.

The Best Children’s Hospitals rankings highlight U.S. News’s top 50 U.S. pediatric facilities in cancer, cardiology & heart surgery, diabetes & endocrinology, gastroenterology & GI surgery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology & neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology.

The methodology reflects the level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care, such as staffing, technology and special services; delivery of healthcare, such as reputation among pediatric specialists, programs that prevent infections and adherence to best practices; and clinical outcomes, such as patient survival, infection rates and complications.

In the 2016-17 rankings, 78 of the 183 surveyed hospitals were ranked in one or more specialties.

The rankings will be published in the U.S. News "Best Hospitals 2017" guidebook, available for pre-sale August 1.
