Pottstown Memorial Medical Center announces collaboration with Nemours Childrens Health System

Pottstown Memorial Medical Center (PMMC) and Nemours Children’s Health System (Nemours) are pleased to announce a new collaborative relationship to provide advanced pediatric care to families in Pottstown and the surrounding communities.

As part of this collaboration, which began July 1, pediatric hospitalists trained and employed by Nemours will work with the staff on the inpatient pediatrics floor, provide consults in the PMMC Emergency Department, and attend high-risk deliveries. Should a higher level of care be required, additional consultative services may be provided remotely via telemedicine by critical care physicians located at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Moreover, PMMC will have access to Nemours Kids Transport, a state of the art emergency transport system designed to safely transport children to duPont Hospital for Children when the advanced pediatric services of a children’s hospital are required.

"Keeping kids local for emergency and inpatient hospital care eases the burden for families by eliminating the need for travel," says Rich Newell, CEO. "PMMC is proud to bring an enhanced level of pediatric care to our community through our relationship with Nemours. This collaboration and the resources Nemours provides will be an asset for our patients."

As one of the nation’s leading pediatric health systems, Nemours provides leadership, institutions and service to restore and improve the health of children through care and programs not readily available, with one high standard of quality and distinction regardless of the recipient’s financial status. This mission aligns with PMMC’s desire to deliver compassionate, safe, quality care and serve as a place of healing, caring and connection for patients and families in the communities they serve.

"At Nemours, we made a promise to do whatever it takes to help children grow up healthy and reach their full potential," remarked Mark Ogino, M.D., Medical Director for Nemours Partnership Network. "Working with the providers and staff at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, we can help children & families in and around Pottstown get off to a healthy start from birth by providing high quality specialized pediatric care in a community health care setting."

Dr. Philip Cook will serve as the Site Chief for Nemours duPont Pediatrics at PMMC. Dr. Cook is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and licensed in Pennsylvania since 1989. In addition, he is a licensed attorney and has been a member of the American Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association since 1998.
