Nemours CareConnect Wins Digital Edge 50 Award

A technology that remotely brings board-certified pediatricians into homes in Delaware, Florida, Maryland and Pennsylvania will be honored by CIO, a content resource for technology executives. Nemours CareConnect was selected as a Digital Edge 50 Award winner by a distinguished panel of industry experts and business and technology executives who are recognizing technology that drives greater customer engagement.

Nemours CareConnect is a 24/7 on-demand pediatric telehealth program which allows families access to pediatricians from Nemours through a smart phone, tablet or computer. If necessary, the physician may order a prescription, using geo-location service on the smart phone or tablet and send it to the pharmacy nearest to the family. The service costs $49 per visit or may be covered by insurance.

"With CareConnect, Nemours set out to create an experience that was easy and convenient for our patient families," said Carey Officer, administrator of telehealth for Nemours Children’s Health System. "This award from some of the top leaders in technology is a true honor and confirmation that we are achieving our goal to deliver a new and better way for families to access high-quality pediatric care."

In addition to the direct-to-consumer option, Nemours CareConnect is also used to bring pediatric specialists into community hospitals that are affiliated with Nemours. Providers at the affiliated hospitals may use the telehealth tool to have a Nemours specialist remotely assess a patient. When specialists are able to see patients through the secure video connection, they are better-able to determine the safest, most-necessary care.

The awards gala is a part of the AGENDA17 conference taking place March 20-22, 2017 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

"The complexity and scale of the initiatives in the Digital Edge 50 show how quickly organizations are progressing to the next phase of digital transformation," said Anne McCrory, Digital Edge program chair and Group VP, Customer Experience and Operations, IDG Enterprise Events. "They are taking advantage of new capabilities, such as AI and deep machine learning, to enhance their mobile and analytics practices worldwide. They are finding dramatic results from the cloud, and serving customers in faster and more elegant ways. Their adoption of agile, extreme programming and completely reworked business processes show how even the most traditional businesses can go big with digital with the right vision and leadership."

In October, 2016 Nemours CareConnect earned the Innovation in Patient Care award from the Florida Hospital Association.
