Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children Ranks in Nine Specialties US News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report has ranked Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in nine pediatric specialties in the new 2017-18 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings published online today. Orthopedics ranked 7th in the nation. The hospital’s ranked specialties include: 

  • Cancer (#25)
  • Cardiology & heart surgery (#33)
  • Endocrinology and diabetes (#30)
  • Gastroenterology (#14)
  • Neonatology (#41)
  • Nephrology (#38)
  • Orthopedics (#7)
  • Pulmonology (#31)
  • Urology (#42)

Seven of Nemours ranked specialties improved their ranking significantly from 2015-16, including: cancer (#47 to #25); cardiology (#47 to #33); gastroenterology (#22 to #14) and pulmonology (#46 to #31). Three specialties unranked in 2016-17 — diabetes and endocrinology, neonatology and urology — achieved rankings this year. 

The 11th annual Best Children’s Hospitals rankings highlight U.S. News’s top 50 U.S. pediatric facilities in 10 surveyed specialties: cancer, cardiology & heart surgery, diabetes & endocrinology, gastroenterology & GI surgery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology & neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology.

Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children has been ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals in each year it has participated in the survey.

The rankings rely on clinical data and on an annual survey of pediatric specialists. The rankings methodology considers clinical outcomes, such as mortality and infection rates, efficiency and coordination of care delivery and compliance with "best practices."
