(WILMINGTON, Del., June 21, 2023) — Nemours Children’s Health, one of the nation’s largest pediatric health systems, is proud to once again be recognized among the nation’s best by U.S. News & World Report. Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware has been ranked each year since it began participating in the publication’s annual survey. Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida has been ranked as one of the top five children’s hospitals in the state for the second consecutive year.

Building on the legacy and philanthropy of Alfred I. duPont, which established a premier orthopedic hospital for children in Wilmington, Del., now, as a multi-site health system with two free-standing children’s hospitals, Nemours Children’s has been ranked among the nation’s best in Orthopedics for two consecutive years. Serving patients through primary and specialty pediatric care at more than 70 sites in four states, Nemours is continuously expanding access to high-quality, specialized healthcare.

“As a multi-state, multi-site children’s health system, it’s a proud moment for Nemours Children’s Hospitals and our Jacksonville, Fla., collaboration with Wolfson Children’s Hospital to be recognized among the U.S. News & World Report Top 50 pediatric institutions,” said Nemours Children’s Health President and CEO R. Lawrence Moss, MD. “Parents and caregivers rely on these rankings to inform their decisions about where to receive high-quality, specialty care for their child.”

Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware was named one of the 10 best children’s hospitals in the Mid-Atlantic and ranked in five pediatric specialties including Cancer, Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, and Orthopedics.

“Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware started as a modest orthopedic hospital and it is rewarding to be a part of its storied growth,” said Tetsu “Butch” Uejima, MD, MMM, Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware. “I’m thankful for our staff’s hard work and commitment to providing high-quality, patient care. These rankings only tell part of our story, and today we celebrate the achievements of all our medical specialties.”

Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida ranked in Orthopedics and Diabetes & Endocrinology specialties.

"The national rankings in two pediatric specialties show that in just over a decade since we opened the hospital in Orlando, that Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida continues to grow, innovate and redefine the meaning of children's health,” said Daniel Podberesky, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida. “This is the first of what we are confident will eventually be many Nemours pediatric specialties in the rankings. This national honor reflects the dedication to exceptional care for children that our specialty teams provide every day.”

In addition, Wolfson Children’s Hospital achieved ranking in Neurology & Neurosurgery and Diabetes & Endocrinology. Neuroscience and Diabetes & Endocrinology services are provided, in part, by pediatric physician specialists with Nemours Children’s Health, Jacksonville.

“Nemours Children’s Health is proud to partner with Wolfson Children’s Hospital,” said Gary Josephson, MD, MBA, Chief Medical Officer, Nemours Children’s Health, Jacksonville. “The U.S. News rankings highlight the excellent specialized services patients receive and is a stellar example of collaborative teamwork providing the best care to the children and families we serve.”

The Best Children's Hospitals methodology factors objective measures such as patient outcomes, including mortality and infection rates, as well as available clinical resources and compliance with best practices. To calculate the Best Children’s Hospitals rankings, U.S. News gathered relevant data from children’s hospitals in early 2020 and from pediatric physicians and other healthcare organizations in 2021; because of the pandemic, data collection from children’s hospitals was not repeated in 2021.
