(WILMINGTON, Del., Sept. 5, 2023) —Vanessa Durand, DO, has been appointed Nemours Site Chief of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, Nemours Children’s Health at Jefferson Abington Hospital. Dr. Durand will lead Nemours’ pediatric hospitalist team and advance pediatric care at Jefferson Abington Hospital in this role.

Throughout her career, Dr. Durand has dedicated significant educational and research efforts to improving health equity related to patient safety and quality improvement. Some of her accolades include being named a National Health Service Corps scholar, awarded for her commitment to serving underserved areas in primary care. Dr. Durand is also a fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics and was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Drexel University.

Before Nemours, she worked as a faculty and hospitalist at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, where she co-chaired the hospital’s diversity and inclusion committee among her various roles. In addition, Dr. Durand served as a pediatrician at Westside Family Healthcare in Wilmington with medical staff privileges at Christiana Hospital.
Dr. Durand completed medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a pediatric residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.
