“This was a record-breaking year,” says Becky Phillips, Associate Director of Philanthropy for Nemours. “To see the continued outpouring of support from our community is really inspiring.

Wilmington, DE (September 22, 2021) – On September 16 & 17, 2021, the Help Our Kids Radiothon marked its 11th year by being back on the campus of Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware with a new media partner. For two days, MIX 99.5 WJBR, a Beasley Media Group radio station, shared with their listeners stories of hope, courage, and compassion from Nemours Children’s patients, patient families, and clinicians.

Donations came steadily throughout the two-day event via a live phone bank and online giving. As the clock hit 6:00 p.m. on Friday, the total was announced: $356,196, but contributions are still being accepted online. Since 2011, the event has raised more than $3.4-million dollars.

One hundred percent of all money donated will go to Child Life, Palliative Care, Pastoral Care, and Integrative Medicine, all of which support the patients’ care, and their siblings, at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware.

“Programs such as Child Life, Palliative Care, Integrative Medicine, and Pastoral Care are provided to all of our patients free of charge,” explains Jennifer Sciolla, MS, CTRS, CCLS, Senior Director of Child and Family Services. “These are important and impactful services and all the money raised through the Help Our Kids Radiothon ensures we can continue to provide support, help alleviate pain and stress, and allow kids to be kids while they are in our care.”

Along with staff from MIX 99.5 WJBR, Nemours Children’s associates volunteered their valuable time to make this year’s Radiothon possible. An overview of the Help Our Kids Radiothon, including our ambassador, Sha-Nia’s story are online at www.nemours.org/radiothon.

“This was a record-breaking year,” says Becky Phillips, Associate Director of Philanthropy for Nemours. “To see the continued outpouring of support from our community is really inspiring. The success of Radiothon is thanks to every associate in our hospital, all of our community partners, and our radio sponsor Beasley Media Group. But most importantly, it’s the bravery and willingness of our patients and their families to share their stories and be such amazing advocates of Nemours Children’s Health.”
