Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida hires internationally renowned pediatric cardiology specialist
Dr. Yalim Yalcin joins as an interventional cardiologist

Orlando, Fla. (July 28, 2022) – Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida has hired renowned cardiologist Ali Seyfi Yalim Yalcin, M.D., an expert in interventional pediatric cardiology, from Istanbul, Turkey. Since 2011, Dr. Yalcin has served as the director of the cardiac catherization laboratory at TC Bilim University Florence Nightingale Hospitals Group in Istanbul, where he is also on faculty as professor of pediatrics and director of pediatric cardiology.

Dr. Yalcin earned his medical degree at the University of Istanbul Medical School, and performed his internship in general pediatrics there. He completed a residency in general pediatrics at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. He furthered his training with a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at North Shore University Hospital / Cornell University Medical College in Manhasset, N.Y.

“Dr. Yalcin’s experience with a wide range of interventional procedures and devices complements the specialties we treat at Nemours,” said Dr. Gul Dadlani, Chief of Cardiology at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida.

Dr. Yalcin is a member of The American Board of Pediatrics and board-certified in pediatric cardiology. He specializes in cardiac catheterization in congenital and structural heart disease, as well as interventional cardiac catheterization hybrid procedures and fetal interventions.

As a boy, Dr. Yalcin would go with his father, a surgeon, to visit patients at the hospital. The respect that a doctor commanded made an impression on him, and in his practice treating children, he enjoys interacting with patients and families.

“As doctors, we want to be able to help people, and children with health problems need our help the most,” said Dr. Yalcin. “Some are afraid of doctors, but when you can gain their trust and make them smile, it is priceless.”

At Nemours, Dr. Yalcin has been impressed with the use of technology in the cath lab where diagnostic imaging equipment is used to treat heart abnormalities and can help patients avoid surgery. This also leads to faster healing, said Dr. Yalcin.

Nemours’ aspirations to improve the health of all children helped draw Dr. Yalcin to relocate to the United States with his wife. They will reside in Laureate Park. The Yalcins have two sons, one of whom is in medical school at Yale University, where he is doing neurological research. Another is finishing school in Istanbul. Dr. Yalcin is looking forward to discovering parts of Florida and taking some Latin dancing classes.
