Esteemed Oncologist Douglas J. Harrison, MD, MS, Named Chief of Hematology/Oncology/Transplant and Cellular Therapy for Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware Valley
Dr. Harrison has also been named the Inaugural Lisa Dean Moseley Foundation Presidential Endowed Chair

WILMINGTON, Delaware (Sept. 8, 2025) - Nemours Children’s Health today announced Douglas J. Harrison, MD, MS, Division Chief of Hematology/Oncology/Transplant and Cellular Therapy, Department of Pediatrics in Delaware Valley. An esteemed, nationally renowned oncologist, Dr. Harrison has also been named the Lisa Dean Moseley Foundation Presidential Endowed Chair.

In his new role, Dr. Harrison will oversee the delivery of hematology/oncology services and shape the strategic direction of the Lisa Dean Moseley Foundation Institute for Cancer and Blood Disorders (Moseley Foundation Institute).

We are thrilled for what Dr. Harrison will bring to our already robust and well-respected program.”

Dr. Harrison is an accomplished oncologist recognized for his expertise in bone and soft tissue sarcomas with a particular focus on childhood and adolescent rhabdomyosarcoma. He previously served as Center Medical Director and Professor of the Department of Pediatrics Patient Care at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Harrison will lead the team of hematology/oncology physicians and staff at the Moseley Foundation Institute. The first phase of the Moseley Foundation Institute opened in April and features a family-centered, state-of-the-art design in the 24-bed inpatient facility spanning 24,000 square feet. The second phase will feature a 19,000-square-foot outpatient Day Hospital and Infusion Center expected to open in December—more than quadrupling its current size.

Dr. Harrison completed his fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He completed his pediatric residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, a master’s degree from Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences, and a bachelor’s degree from Brown University.

He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is an American Board of Pediatric Subspecialist in hematology/oncology.
