75 Days of Giving Continues with The WRK Group
Donation by Nemours Children’s Health and Food Giveaway to Take Place November 19th at Kingswood Community Center.

WILMINGTON Del. (November 19, 2021) – The WRK Group (The Warehouse, REACH Riverside, and Kingswood Community Center) is pleased to announce that on Friday, November 19, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., Kingswood Community Center (KCC) and Nemours Children’s Health will host a check presentation to deliver funds that will directly impact the early learning academy. Following this announcement, KCC will host a free turkey and non-perishable food giveaway, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m., for the Riverside and 11th Street Bridge communities.

Nemours Children’s Health is graciously donating $100,000 towards KCC’s Early Learning Academy. Funds will go towards outfitting classrooms and providing needed school supplies in addition to providing trainings and resources for parents and families through educational seminars such as health literacy, collaborative technical assistance, and parent cafes. Recently, KCC celebrated its 75th anniversary at the same time The WRK Group shared its goal of raising $41 million to build a new Kingswood Community Center, where the early Learning Academy is housed. In addition to giving more children and infants and great start, this new, state-of-the-art facility will:

• Offer more youth a place to go to learn and connect after school

• Deliver more opportunities for fitness and fun

• Provide a health resource center for access to primary care

• Offer community spaces for meetings, parties, and performances

• Create an expanded senior center with more activities to keep our seniors fit and sharp.

In honor of Kingswood’s 75th anniversary, The WRK Group is hosting 75 Days of Giving, which began on October 17, 2021, and continues through December 31, 2021. During this time, The WRK Group is hosting a variety of activities that showcase KCC’s community impact.

Following Nemours announcement, KCC will host a free turkey and non-perishable food distribution, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., to benefit the Riverside and 11th Street Bridge communities. Community members are invited to join staff and volunteers for a truck-to-trunk style distribution. Individuals can collect food items via their car, or, alternatively, walk-ups are also welcome.
