Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, Receives National Recognition for its Respiratory Care Department

(Wilmington, Del., February 23, 2023) — Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware, is proud to announce that its Respiratory Care Department has received the 2023-2024 Apex Recognition Award from the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC). This prestigious honor is presented to hospitals that exemplify best practices in the respiratory care profession and demonstrate how high-quality respiratory care enhances patient safety.

Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, is one of 18 acute care hospitals and one of five free standing children's hospitals in the United States to receive the Apex award this year. Nemours’ Respiratory Care Department is one of three awarded to have 100% Registered Respiratory Therapists - the credential nationally recognized as the "standard of excellence" for respiratory care.

“We are extremely proud of our respiratory care team for receiving this national recognition, bringing more attention to the clinical preeminence of Nemours Children's,” said Aaron Carpenter, Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing and Patient Operations Officer at Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware Valley. “The team's unyielding commitment to excellence contributes to better clinical outcomes and experiences for the children and families we serve.”

Receiving the Apex award recognizes the significant contribution of Nemours’ respiratory therapists to highlight best practices in respiratory care that are aligned with evidence-based medicine. It also provides consumers with the ultimate benchmark for choosing healthcare facilities that promote patient safety by providing access to the best respiratory care team.

To obtain this recognition, Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, went through a vigorous application process where the AARC committee determined Nemours’ substantial adherence to the demanding Apex award standards.
