Nemours Children’s Health Hires New Chief Analytics Officer
New senior executive role will lead the data analytics strategy for the multistate pediatric health system

ORLANDO, Fla. (July 19, 2023) – Nemours Children’s Health has hired data analytics executive Apparsamy Balaji as its new Chief Analytics Officer. In this new role, Balaji will help the multistate pediatrics health system foster value creation by strengthening a data-driven culture supporting its mission to raise the healthiest generations of children.

“The addition of this new senior executive position will help advance our current data infrastructure into a robust analytics ecosystem,” said Bernie Rice, Senior VP and Chief Information Officer of Nemours Children’s Health. “Balaji will forge a new data and analytics strategy for the enterprise, including data and analytics governance in accordance with relevant regulatory, legal and ethical mandates.”

Balaji previously served as vice president for enterprise data and strategic analytics for Travel + Leisure. He held similar roles at Unum Group in Chattanooga, Tenn., BayCare Health System in Tampa, Fla., and Ascension Health in Birmingham, Ala.

Based at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida, Balaji will implement industry best practices, data management, data science and system integration to support growth, efficiency, quality, security, safety, and compliance across the enterprise, which includes two freestanding pediatric hospitals, clinics, and partnerships.

“Balaji brings a wealth of experience in support of our enterprise strategy with his addition to our Business Intelligence & Analytics resource group supporting strategic roadmaps and the Innovation, Technology & Analytics Imperative,” Rice said. “This role will be transformative for the benefit of Nemours and our patient families.”

“While building the long-term data and AI strategy, my initial goal is to improve process efficiency and ensure consistent reporting. My primary focus is toward generating valuable business intelligence and insights that will ultimately improve the value and quality of service we provide patient families,” Balaji said.

Balaji earned his Master of Business Administration degree at Northern Illinois University and his bachelor’s degree in engineering at Annamalai University in India.
