Dr Ramos Irizarry retired from the United States Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel. She had an overseas tour at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center during Operation Enduring Freedom.

An active researcher, Dr. Ramos Irizarry has published numerous medical journal articles and book chapters, and serves as an editorial reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Journal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, Journal Injury Epidemiology, and The American Journal of Surgery.
