Nemours Childrens Health System Expands in West Orange County

Construction Underway for Specialty and Primary Care site in Winter Garden

Families will now have access to Nemours Specialty and Primary Care services in one location and closer to home. Nemours is breaking ground on the Winter Garden location at Sonata West, 2020 Daniels Road. Construction should be completed by spring 2018 and open to patients in May 2018.

"Expanding into Winter Garden will bring the highest level of pediatric expertise closer to where families live," said Martha McGill, Chief of Network Operations for Florida and Enterprise Vice President for Nemours Children’s Health System. "This new location will help us deliver that team-approach to a child’s care by providing a broad-range of specialties under one roof and making it as convenient as possible for our families."

"We welcome Nemours to Winter Garden.  It is a great addition for our families and the West Orange community to receive services in their own backyard," said John Rees, mayor of Winter Garden.

Nemours will build out a 12-thousand square-foot medical facility that will offer families a range of services. The Primary Care will have a board certified pediatrician who can provide routine well-and-sick visits, immunizations and care for everyday bumps and bruises for children from newborn to age 18. Specially trained pediatric care teams can diagnose and treat common to complex conditions.

Nemours specialties that families can access at Nemours Children’s Health System, Winter Garden will include:

  • Cardiology
  • Gastroenterology
  • General Surgery
  • Ophthalmology
  • Orthopedics/Sport Medicine
  • Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat)
  • Pulmonology

"We are excited to have Nemours Children’s Health System on the campus of Sonata West, a resort-style Independent and Assisted Living community," said Stuart Beebe, President and CEO of Sonata Senior Living. "Nemours Health System will improve access to many pediatric services for families in West Orange."

Nemours operates a full-service, 100 bed children’s hospital with an Emergency Department in Lake Nona.  Nemours also has 11 specialty care locations, 16 primary care and six urgent care locations throughout central Florida. Nemours also offers CareConnect, a 24/7/365 on-demand pediatric telehealth program, which allows families access to pediatricians through a smart phone, tablet or computer.

For seven consecutive years, Nemours has been recognized in Health Care’s Most Wired® survey, released by the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Health Forum. In 2017, The Florida Hospital Association awarded Nemours Children’s Hospital the Innovation of the Year and Leadership in Quality and Patient Safety Awards. In 2017, The Emergency Nurses Association once again recognized The Emergency Department with The Lantern Award.
