A new attorney will lead legal affairs for Nemours Children’s Health System including its two freestanding children’s hospitals. Debbie Platz will serve as Enterprise Vice President and General Counsel, reporting to Nemours President and CEO, David Bailey MD.
"I have had the privilege of working with Debbie Platz for years and witnessed her deep understanding of the legal landscape and her natural leadership abilities," said David Bailey MD, President and CEO of Nemours Children’s Health System. "I am delighted she agreed to take on this role which is so important to Nemours."
Debbie most recently served as Nemours’ first Operational Vice President and Chief of Legal Operations. She has also been a key member of the Florida Leadership Team and successfully led legal operations for Nemours in Florida and Delaware. In addition, she has provided governance advice and legal counsel to Nemours Florida Board of Managers and to the Nemours Board of Directors with regard to Nemours operations.
Nemours previous General Counsel, Steve Sparks recently joined the Hershey Trust Company in Hershey, Pennsylvania as Senior Vice President and General Counsel.
Platz joined Nemours in 2011 with responsibility for Nemours affiliate operations in Central Florida and very successfully played an integral role in the opening of Nemours Children’s Hospital (NCH). She helped Nemours as the outside counsel guiding the health system’s efforts to gain regulatory approval to build NCH.
Active in the community, Debbie serves on the boards of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Northern Florida and the Florida Charter School Foundation, and is a member of the Harvard Club of Florida.
