Editor’s Note: Video interviews, B-roll available for download
WILMINGTON, Del. (December 14, 2020) – Nemours Children’s Health System continued its tradition of allowing hospitalized children to have a face-to-face conversation with Santa, who spoke to them from the “North Pole.” The children were able to share their Christmas wishes and interact with Santa right from their hospital room.
“Being hospitalized at this time of year can leave kids feeling left out of the holiday season,” said Melissa Nicely, Child Life Manager, Nemours duPont Hospital for Children. “So this is a great way, and what we have been doing for twelve years, to have Santa virtually, on a tablet, go into the room and spend time with each patient.”
Children being treated at Nemours’ two freestanding hospitals in Wilmington, Delaware and Orlando, Florida experienced virtual visits with Santa and received a special gift from Santa too, a small stuffed elf.
We have video footage of the visits for your use. Footage includes broll footage of Santa with patients (both POVs, from patient room and from “North Pole”), a sound bite from Melissa Nicely, Child Life Manager, and a sound bite from a mom whose son was visited by Santa.
